Wesley Tauranga

Activities

There is a lot going on at Wesley Church...so much so that it's hard to keep track of sometimes! There are activities geared to just about every age, taste and preference.

Many of the regular things going on are listed on the left-hand menu. Simply click any of them to find out more.

If you're young or just young at heart, we invite you to look into "Whateva",which is what the Youth Group call themselves.

Table Talk is an informal group of people who meet once a month to listen to a guest speaker, eat and also to think together.

Are you musically inclined? Wesley has a place for you in our Choir or you can join the Wesley Musicians for presentations during services as well as during special occasions.

Our Groups

  • Wesley Monday Walking Group

The Wesley Walking group was started about twenty years ago by George Evans and included people from St. Stephens Church.

Ken Dey took over the leadership some time later and it changed into more of a tramping group so that we did more ambitious one day tramps like climbing Mt Te Aroha and Mt Karangahake. We have done a lot of the DOC tracks in the Kaimai Ranges and over in the Rotorua area.

We only do tramps that can be done in a day. It is a very informal group of about fifteen or so people, but normally about six to eight come on the day. We do it because we enjoy the bush, the outdoors and each other's company.

  • Weekday Study Groups

Study Groups are an important part of life at Wesley.
During the year, different groups form to study particular books or theological questions.

To see what Study Groups are active at present, please contact Ngaire Southon.

  • Women's Fellowship

Wesley's Methodist Women's Fellowship meet in the Church Lounge on the third Tuesday of each month at 9.45am until about 11.30am. The morning usually starts with a cuppa, followed by the activity for that day.

We gather with a sense of purpose at Wesley to make it a place where friendships are built and learning encouraged.
